App Developer Bootcamp: Part 2 of 3
December 1, 2018 at 12:30pm
In this teen Hoist mini series, you will learn about how to build your own web application. Web applications are unlike traditional websites. Traditional websites are largely informational (like the Refresh Annapolis Valley website) where web applications solve particular problems (think Gmail for email).
- In part 1, you will learn the ins-and-outs of building app interfaces
- In part 2, you will learn how to add interactivity to your web app
- In part 3, you will learn how to manage app data
If you haven’t attended part 1, you can jump right into part 2.
The School in the Cloud
November 6, 2018 at 6:30pm
What is the future of education in a networked world?
In this documentary screening and discussion, we will discuss Indian professor Sugata Mitra’s calls for a revolution in how and what we learn. With a global network of information a few clicks away, Mitra argues that the Victorian model on which our school systems are based is obsolete.
School In The Cloud follows a three-year experiment as Mitra installs unmanned internet kiosks in locations ranging from remote villages in West Bengal to a school in northeast England, to enable children to self-organize their learning. The film explores the impact of Sugata’s work, predominantly through the experience of children in the remote Indian village of Korakati in the Ganges Delta.
